Mental Health and Social Media

Mental Health and Social Media

By Shelby Hall

Our mental health can have a huge impact on our wellbeing and is just as important as physical health to take care of. There are many factors that could go into how we feel mentally and emotionally about a certain thing or on a certain day. Social media has been known to play a large part in many people’s mental health, whether good or bad. Anything is okay in moderation, but when you’re online almost all day or following only models or watching the latest workouts and diet plans, it can get to you mentally.

I’m here to tell you that it’s okay to take breaks. Do a whole ass social media detox retreat in upstate New York or just set a social media timer so that you limit your amount of time online. Even just unfollowing people who don’t make you feel like yourself or who you don’t have fun seeing would do so much good.

Mental health is a spectrum so everybody is different. Just do what’s best for you.
