How to Wake Up With Better Looking Skin

How to Wake Up With Better Looking Skin

Wouldn't it be nice to wake up with perfect skin? Let's face it, the less time it takes to get ready in the morning, the more time you have to sleep. I've researched tons of skincare products and found that it only takes a few steps to achieve beautiful skin.  Here is my list of great products and tips that can help you wake up looking your best:

1. ZINC SUNSCREEN

If you had to choose one skincare product, zinc sunscreen would be it. Zinc oxide protects against both UVA and UVB rays by forming a barrier on the skin. Don't fret, today's zinc sunscreens are far from what they looked like in the 80s. Forget about a white layer of gunk on your skin, the latest zinc sunscreens have the same protection as their predecessors, but without the ghostly look.  Blue Lizard Sunscreen is a great option. 2. SERUM

I recently met Jenna Levine, founder of skincare line, SASHA Essentials while promoting our brands at a holiday pop-up shop. Jenna was kind enough to let me sample her SASHA Essentials REJUVENATE Serum 02, and I fell in love with it! The serum is made from botanical ingredients-great for us with sensitive skin. I added the serum to my morning routine and immediately saw a glowing effect to my skin. I also used the serum at night and found my skin refreshed and hydrated in the morning.

Jenna is offering Perpetual Shade readers 20% Off of SASHA Essentials DREAM TEAM / Travel Size Kit that contains the REJUVENATE Serum 02, Repair Face Oil, and Clear Face Oil.

3. MOISTURIZER

With a thousand and one different moisturizing creams on the market, it can be tricky to choose the best one for your skin type. One of the best moisturizers on the market is Olay Regenerist Night Recovery Cream. This cream can be used day and night and is great for all skin types.

SKINCARE TIP: Keep your moisturizers in the refrigerator to help decrease inflammation.

4. CHARCOAL CLEANSER

Charcoal cleansers are trending and for good reason. Dirt and oil attach to the charcoal and then get washed away leaving your skin clean and prepped for product application. I've been using BIORÉ Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser and have been very pleased with the results (and price-it retails under $6)!

5. VI PEELS

Don't be scared! I'm not referring to the chemical peel Samantha Jones had in the episode of SATC. A VI Peel is a safe and effective way to deeply penetrate the skin without any pain. I know first hand, as I've had a few in my day. Some patients see a result after only one peel, however most doctors recommend a series of 3 peels to see optimal results. The peeling effect is similar to the look of dry skin. I had some flaking around my mouth and cheeks but nothing too drastic. The doctor provides you with a post-peel kit that includes hydrating lotion to help with any dry areas.

6. WEAR A SILK SLEEP MASK

The smooth closely woven fibers in silk help keep moisture close to the skin, which in turn increases hydration. When you sleep with a silk sleep mask, the skin around your eyes will be better hydrated. When skin is plump and hydrated, less fine lines and wrinkles show though!
