Going out for NYE? Don't start off the new year feeling like sh*t. Here are evidence-based ways to prevent hangovers, or at least make them significantly less severe!
DRINK WATER
Although dehydration is not considered a main cause of hangovers, it may contribute to symptoms like thirst, headache, fatigue and dry mouth. Fortunately, dehydration is easy to avoid — just make sure to drink enough water before and after!
GET ENOUGH SLEEP
LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION, $98
Alcohol can impair your sleep quality. Give yourself plenty of time to sleep in before and after your night out. A sleep mask is the best hack for a good nights rest! It blocks out all light exposure so your sleep cycle won't get f**ked up.
EAT BREAKFAST
Eating a good breakfast is a renowned hangover remedy. It can help restore blood sugar levels, which mitigates some hangover symptoms. After drinking, having a nutritious breakfast or a late-night meal might help maintain your blood sugar levels.
CHOSE ALCOHOL WISELY
You can significantly reduce the severity of hangovers by drinking low-congener beverages. Drinks high in congeners include whiskey, cognac and tequila. Bourbon whiskey is exceptionally high in congeners. Instead try vodka, gin or rum to do the trick!
SET OUT YOUR PJS
NOTHING is worse than waking up feeling like a hot mess. Before going out, lay out your comfy pajamas on your bed. By keeping things out (makeup wipes, toothbrush, face wash) you can remind your drunk self to act like a civilized human being before going to bed. This sweatshirt is perfect for sleep and for the next morning when you want to get brunch but don't have the energy or mental capacity to change.
