I hate to travel. It can honestly be such a pain in the ass, stressful situation. However, I am here to help you! Here are my top 5 travel hacks that will make your life a lot easier.
1. CHANGE YOUR SEAT
Who loves sitting in the middle seat? Me neither. So here's the deal. Don't pay extra to choose your seat. This is the airlines way of trying to squeeze out as much dough from your pocket and is totally unnecessary. Choose any seat when you book your flight, then, at the gate, be as nice as you possibly can to the gate agent and ask to change your seat. 9 times out of 10 they will help you.
2. CONTACT YOUR AIRBNB HOST FOR A DISCOUNT
Airbnb inflates their rates for vacation rentals but you do not have to be a victim of that nonsense. Instead of booking your stay, click on 'contact host' and ask for a break. This is not uncommon and most hosts will negotiate a good deal.
3. CLEAR YOUR BROWSING HISTORY
Flight booking engines are legally allowed to insert a cookie that tracks your browsing history. They can see which flights you are checking out and up the price. Assholes. If you clear your cache, chances are the price of the same flight you searched 10 mins ago will go down.
4. GET LOUNGE ACCESS
You don't have to be a baller to sit in the airline VIP lounge. Just pay a day rate ( sometimes as low as $10) for full access to food, booze and a nap in one of the comfy chairs.
5. FLY OUT OF RANDOM AIRPORTS
I recently went on a trip to Miami for work and flew out of an obscure airport. It was very small, only one terminal but actually very cozy. The flight was direct, and the price of the ticket was a lot less than flying from one of the larger airports. Do your research and it will pay off!
