5 Mindful Morning Practices

Everybody could use some encouragement in the morning. It’s probably the hardest thing to hear your alarm blare, hit snooze 20 times and then drag yourself out of bed. These 5 morning mantras may just help with those Monday-Friday AM blues.

1. Getting up on the first alarm.

Yes, I know it’s awful and I know it’s not easy, but if you make yourself do it, think of all the extra time you’ll have to become yourself for the day. Those extra few minutes are magic.

2. Drink water!

Yes yes, cliché, I know. Water cures virtually everything, but starting off your morning with a glass of cold or even warm water (with lemon for detox) could be the extra push you need.

3. Save the caffeine.

This is quite possibly the most important thing to some people each and every morning, but if you save it for your commute or first class or second hour on the job, your body just might thank you for it.

4. Take a moment to stretch.

Do a lil morning yoga, take a minute or two when you first step out of bed and touch your toes or shake it out or hit a tree pose.

5. Put on those confident pants.

Whether it’s an eye look, a funky tee or a pair of statement pants; put on what makes you feel confident, look in the mirror and tell yourself you’re incredible (you are) and own it.

    Wake up, sip that tea (literally or figuratively) and OWN today, you’re worth it.
